Following my recent livestream, this registration round has also attracted registrants who are third parties in others’ marriages.

Here, I sincerely remind all third parties: in my decades of observation, I have never seen mistresses or affairs lead to happy endings. In love, physical health, mental well-being, or family relationships, all suffer from the bitter retribution of indulging in illicit lust.

The sweet words may sound enticing:
– “I’ll divorce her.”
– “Just give me more time.”
– “I have no relationship with her anymore.”
– “You’ve made me happy again!”

But once the affair solidifies, and a child is born, it often marks the beginning of another tragedy.

A long time ago in Singapore, if the father was someone else’s husband, the father’s name would be left blank on the child’s birth certificate. Such children were labelled as illegitimate, and the mother’s identity as a mistress was evident to school teachers and peers. Later, perhaps out of pity for the children, the government allowed fathers’ names to be included starting in the 1970s.

To truly see karma, one must observe it not just for ten years but for twenty, even thirty or forty years.

I do not advocate abortion, but neither do I support using your born-out-of-wedlock child as an excuse to continue being someone’s bed companion without status or respect.

When these children grow up, I often see two outcomes:
1. They lose respect for their mistress mother, sometimes even despising her. The mother, thinking she has made a great sacrifice for her child, ends up deeply misunderstood.
2. They repeat their parents’ fate, becoming someone else’s mistress or committing infidelity in their own marriages, perpetuating the karmic DNA of illicit relationships in the family.

How tragic, how deeply tragic!

No matter how persuasive I am, I often find it hard to overcome their desires of the flesh. After all, some women still prefer being financially supported. While being cared for, they are brainwashed by the man and told that without his financial support, they are nothing. These women consult me only to vent their grievances, but after the consultation, many return to their old ways.

One Malaysian mistress even asked me to help her bear a second child. Are you out of your mind to ask Master Lee Ji Qian for this? No, it was not in the name of love. She harboured a secret hope that having more children would elevate her status higher than the wife, and entitle her to a larger portion of the man’s wealth.

To all parents: do not raise your daughters to become princesses who wait for meals to be served or clothes to be handed to them. There are not that many princes on white horses in this world, but there are plenty of men who seek to exploit your daughters’ love craving to satisfy their sexual desires. Isn’t it laughable for your daughter to navigate stormy relationships and raging passions, only to sleep her way to no status or dignity?

Raise your precious daughters to be queens with self-reliance and the ability to discern good from evil. Only then will they avoid falling victim to manipulative men, wasting their youths as someone else’s romantic pawn.

I recommend the chapter “Why Must We Observe the Five Precepts?” by my Root Guru, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian-Sheng, included in His 300th book “Returning to the River of Stars”.

For those caught in the whirlpool of sexual desires, let go of your attachments, lay down the blade of ignorance, and turn back toward the shore of wisdom and peace.請購蓮生活佛盧勝彥文集第300冊《回歸星河》
