3 years ago, I received this auspicious ornament, for the year of the Yin Earth Pig, that can ward off evil energies and fortify the house.

It is supposedly very effective because the person in the photo is very fierce and aggressive. It can also attract wealth and peach blossom luck. A multi-functional buy indeed!

When I received this little present, it suddenly dawned on me that I had indeed trudged a very very long distance to reach where I am today.

Nobody around me believe in Buddhism and Chinese Metaphysics. My family thought I was being ridiculous and obsessed to the level of being possessed by the Devil. I was ridiculed as an unfilial daughter and often called a crazy woman, for I had the habit of reciting the Deliverance Mantra for the meat at mealtime.

Just because I do not climb the corporate ladder in some MNC, have children to carry on the family name and indulge in the pleasure of life, does that mean I am “insane”?

Among the children, I count myself as the most sensible. To lessen the family burden, I was working and studying since the age of 14. My parents never had to worry about me.

At that time, I couldn’t understand why they would want my life to be the same as everyone else. There is more than one definition to life. Since they gave me life and education, why did they not let me choose a life I wanted? Why did they not trust me?

I am no photocopy machine. I was not able to duplicate the me that they coveted. So for many years, our relationship was not great.

Because of the many years of objections from my family, I had never thought of myself as important.

In the past, I didn’t know how to maximise my destiny potential. So I walked through too many setbacks to reach where I am today. From doubting myself, looking down on myself, being unable to see myself to finally understanding myself.

It is really not easy.

To be able to do what I love as a lifelong career is my happiest happiness. (Even better than throwing a big fat wedding…)

To help you discover your potential and see how important you are to this world is something I delight in doing.

Failures and rejections do not cripple our ability to continue contributing.

Some people choose to say, “I don’t know how”, “I am unwilling to”, “I still can’t do it” and then relentlessly ask for others to extend their compassion.

For free.

In my line of work, I see a lot of such people.

I do not like to rally for the empathy of others. I would feel like I am letting down my ancestors of 18 generations.

If I don’t know how to do something, I will go seek the knowledge of the guru.

If I am unwilling to do it, but it is the right thing to do, I will still do it.

If I can’t do something well, I will practice it again and again till I am perfect at it.

Some people takes comfort in being imperfect. To me, if I can be perfect, why settle for second best?

“In life, opportunity comes after you make the choice. Possibilities happen after you believe.”

Being a Chinese Metaphysics practitioner is no childhood dream of mine. Nor was it the ambition of a NUS graduate.

To have metamorphosed from a flight stewardess to a Chinese Metaphysics practitioner is the end product of many small decisions made along the way.

And the motivation for all these minor decisions stems from “I believe I can”, “I want to” and “I will achieve that”

When many of Shifu’s disciples gave up, I chose to persist for 16 long years. Them giving up is their choice. Why should I follow suit? They are not the reason why I learn all these.

I do not have any connections or a strong backing. But I still came out to give it a shot at building my practice.

Not because I had the courage of Mulan. But because I chose to give myself a chance and seek humbly to learn. So it was natural that I met benefactors who gave me opportunities too.

“I am very important” isn’t bragging about how great I am. Instead it is the reason why I allow myself to strengthen and expand my inner mind, to achieve a life of greater brilliance.

Some people choose to be the swift horse, waiting for Bo Le, a man of good judgment to see their talent.

My life is in my hands.

I am very important.

Since I am that swift horse, I decided to be my very own Bo Le.

No more horsing around and neighing for a Bo Le.

People will only see our value when we see it in ourselves enough to exemplify it.

This 2022, be your own Bo Le.

Give it a shot.

And you may be in for a great surprise.

Don’t forget this: You are very important too. ❤️
